Wisconsin State Senate Bill 207 aims to override existing state fair employment legislation and permit “an employer to refuse to employ or to bar or terminate from employment an individual who has been convicted of a felony and who has not been pardoned for that felony and preempting cities, villages, towns, and counties from adopting provisions concerning employment discrimination based on arrest or conviction record that prohibit activity that is allowed under the state fair employment law.” (Wisconsin State Legislature Proposal Listing, Full Text of Senate Bill 207)

The proposed bill will nullify any city or county legislation that would attempt to to delay the disclosure of felony convictions in order to prevent discriminatory hiring practices including the ordinance recently approved by the Milwaukee County Board. On September 29th, the Board unanimously approved “Ban the Box” legislation sponsored by County Supervisor Eyon Biddle of the 10th District. In a press release Biddle stated the legislation was “an important first step in preventing recidivism and encouraging reforms to hiring practices.”.

OCCUPY KC: The Occupy movement that’s taken hold across the country turned violent this week. In Oakland, police in riot gear using tear gas on protestors. There were 97 arrests. Some cities, including Atlanta and closer to home in Lawrence are now making protestors move from city parks where they’ve been encamped. So what’s happening here in Kansas City? Is Occupy KC growing stronger or fading as the weeks wear on?

Community Members block auctions in Brooklyn court; 9 activists arrested.
Date: October 13, 2011

“Calling on the judicial system to institute an immediate moratorium on all foreclosures until a fair system of home loans is put into place, a group of New York City housing justice advocates disrupted the auction of several foreclosed Brooklyn properties in Civil Court on Thursday afternoon through music and song. The group, called Organizing for Occupation (O4O), was protesting what it views as a system designed to benefit financial lending institutions at the expense of homeowners and low-income communities. Although the New York judiciary instituted mandatory pre-foreclosure settlement conferences in 2009, O4O claims that these conferences do nothing to protect the rights of homeowners to remain in their homes. “No lender, be it Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank or Chase, has any intention of settling by means other than a foreclosure auction or another predatory modification,” says Karen Gargamelli, a housing attorney and spokesperson for O4O. “These auctions displace our neighbors and destabilize our neighborhoods. We need a stronger system for dealing with foreclosures, one that holds banks accountable for making bad loans and then speculating on them as ‘securitized instruments’.” And until the Legislature passes more protective laws, O4O is calling on the courts to hold all foreclosure auctions, and encouraging New Yorkers to raise their own voices in the courts to stall these auctions through concerted direct action such as Thursday’s disruption.”

I am no longer under contract with the USMC so I do NOT have to follow military uniform regulations. I DON’T affiliate myself with ANY GROUPS or POLITICAL ORG. I affiliate myself with the AMERICAN PEOPLE that’s it. I REFUSE to affiliate with anything that SEPERATES. There is an obvious problem in the country and PEACEFUL PEOPLE should be allowed to PROTEST without Brutality. I was involved in a RIOT in Rutbah, Iraq 2004 and we did NOT treat the Iraqi citizens like they are treating the unarmed civilians in our OWN Country. No one was brutalized because our mission was to “WIN the hearts and minds”, why should I expect anything less in my OWN Country.”

After six days of peaceful occupation of the city square, and five days before the Queen is due to visit Melbourne, Lord Mayor Robert Doyle warned that if the protestors didn’t leave today they would be forcibly removed. The eviction was carried out by 400 police including riot police and dogs. Horses and capsicum spray were also used to attack the crowd at various times. People stood their ground in the square before being removed one by one. Occupy Melbourne then staged a peaceful sit-in in Swanston St which was again brutally attacked. At least 65 people were arrested, video source :
